About the Breed:
The Bull Terrier is highly intelligent, anxious, sensitive, determined, craves human attention and loves to please. A mature Bull Terrier can range anywhere from 30lbs. to 70lbs. Bull Terriers range in temperament. Bull Terriers are very muscular and agile dogs. They need regular exercise to stay fit and healthy. Canine Compulsive Disorder has been observed in Bull Terriers, this involves tail chasing, spinning, etc. Compulsive behaviors are usually brought on by stress or hormonal changes. Bull Terriers can sunburn and overheat. Pay close attention to your bullies moods, any minor change can be related to serious concerns. If a bully is happy they may not let you know they are feeling ill until it becomes serious. With children in mind make sure you keep a close eye on your bullie, much like children they explore with their mouths and even the smallest things can cause the biggest problems
History of the Breed:
The breed consists of the old-fashioned Bull Dog, the White English Terrier, the Dalmatian, and other various Terriers. It is also believed that there was some mixture of Greyhound, Spanish Pointer, Foxhound, Borzoi, and smooth-coated Collie used in the bloodline in the 1930's. There are four distinctive types of accents on the Bull Terrier including "Bull," "Terrier," "Dalmatian," and a mixture of "Bull and Terrier."
